"I make work about my love and hate relationship with the conservative rural settings I grew up in. My drawings and cartoons reflect a constant critique and defense of rural living. I investigate the familiar and the repulsion that comes with the territory of home.

I draw and paint larger-than- life self-portraits, set in the woods of a theatrical Appalachia; I look to the pastoral familiarity of my origins, as I navigate my reverence and aversion to the place that has rejected yet charmed me. I investigate themes of the tourist, homecomings and individuals in exile as a reflection of my own navigation of being an artist in transition between an urban and rural identity compounded by everyday frustrations and malaise.

My world resides somewhere between comfort and conflict; it is the sanctuary of a simplistic rural home, but one confounded by urban desires."
