The job fair is open to all teacher candidates from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
(plan on arriving no later than 1:00 p.m.).
Students/alumni from the sponsoring institutions must contact their Career
Services office for an
admission ticket and nametag.
No pre-registration is necessary; however, admission
tickets will be available at the door for candidates from
non-sponsoring institutions.
Sponsoring
Institutions:
Bloomsburg, Bucknell, East Stroudsburg, Lock Haven, Lycoming, Mansfield
and Susquehanna

Links to the participating school districts are available below.
Review this information and know which district representatives you would
like to meet.
You
must use the PATIO ENTRANCE to the Kehr
Union Building (KUB). No one will be permitted into the employer areas
(Ballroom & Multi-A & B) until 9:00 a.m. when the program begins. Candidates
from the sponsoring institutions must bring a completed admission ticket
and nametag. Other candidates can obtain them at the door. We'll provide
an updated list of participants at registration.
While
the Consortium brings many hiring officials to campus, it also attracts
HUNDREDS of teacher candidates seeking a limited number of positions.
Do NOT use this event as your sole source for securing a job. During previous
events, inexperienced job seekers have expressed frustration about the
number of candidates competing with them for interviews. Unprepared candidates
will feel overwhelmed.

School districts will hold walk-in interviews beginning at
9:00 a.m. and will be available throughout the day to speak with candidates
on a first-come, first-served basis. However, some recruiters may choose
to schedule interviews with candidates. Because of the large number of
participants, you may have to wait to speak with a recruiter. Please be
patient and courteous.

The university is within a one-hour drive from such cities
as Hazleton, Williamsport, Wilkes-Barre, and Scranton; 1.5 hours from
Harrisburg; 2 hours from the Lehigh Valley, 2.5 hours from Philadelphia;
3 hours from New York City and Baltimore; and four hours from Pittsburgh.
If you are traveling ...
From
the EAST: Take
I-80 west to Exit 236A south
From the WEST: Take I-80 east
to Exit 236 south
From the SOUTH: From Central PA, take Routes 11 and 15 north; at
the 11 & 15 split, continue on Route 11 north; from SOUTHEAST PA, take
Northeast Extension of the PA Turnpike (I-476) to I-80 west to Exit 236A
south
From the NORTH: From the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre
area, take I-81 south to I-80 west, to Exit 236A south. From the Williamsport
area, take I-180 south to I-80 east to Exit 236 south
From
Exit 236 south, follow Route 487 south for about one mile. At the traffic
light, make a right toward Nelson Fieldhouse to designated parking.
Follow directional signs to park in the
Special Events' or Stadium Lot on the Upper Campus (beyond Nelson
Fieldhouse). University Police may ticket hourly if improperly parked.
Shuttle service will run from 8 am - 4 pm.
- Many PA schools
do not attend the event because they have no need to seek candidates.
Their files are full of completed applications.
- Take advantage
of the opportunity to speak with as many school officials as possible.
Don't limit yourself geographically (you may be surprised!)
- Bring plenty
of quality resumes, pens and pencils to the event.
- Be prepared to
talk about your education, skills and experiences and how they can
benefit the school district or organization. Ask questions to help
determine if you would enjoy working there.
- Don't expect
a job offer during the consortium. Your interview is an initial screening.
This is your opportunity to make a good first impression.
- Appropriate interview
attire is required, i.e., suits, business dress. You will be standing
in line, so wear comfortable shoes and don't carry a lot of excess
baggage.
- Ask for a business
card so you can follow up properly. Send a thank you correspondence
to the districts you are interested in as soon as possible following
this event.
