to Ben McFadden, freshman chemistry major, who was recognized at the January Academic Achievement Reception. This reception is held for students who live in the Science & Health Sciences Living and Learning Community. Ben was recognized for achieving a 3.0 GPA in his first semester at Bloomsburg University.
It's a girl! Professor John Morgan and his wife, Liz, are the proud parents of a baby girl! Kathryn Rose Morgan was born on Wednesday, January 9th. She weighed 7 lbs, 12 oz. and was 21 inches long. Mom and baby are both doing well, and Dad is learning to change diapers!
Fall 2007 COST Research Day
On Friday December 7, 2007, five students presented their research results. Heather Pursel and Kaitlyn Sanders worked with Dr. John Morgan, Colleen Small performed her research with Dr. Christopher Hallen, Anna Manning worked with Dr. Toni Bell, and Evan Thursby performed research in Dr. Mark Tapsak's lab.
Summer 2007 COST Research Day
On Friday September 28, 2007, eight students presented their research results from the summer of 2007. Colleen Small performed research at Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, Ca. Jacquelyn Teresky worked with Dr. Michael Pugh, Ozzia Harvey worked with Dr. Toni Bell, Scott Swank and Sarah Leshinski worked with Dr. Eric J. Hawrelak, Jonathan Shrimp and Kaitlyn Sanders worked with Dr. John Morgan, and Evan Thursby worked with Dr. Mark Tapsak.
Chemistry Students Present Research in Boston
Three BU chemistry students presented their research results at the 234th American Chemical Society National Meeting in Boston. These three students are also the first recipients of a new annual student summer research program which pays their salary, housing, and meals for 12 weeks in the summer. Kaityln Sanders and Jonathan Shrimp worked over the summer with Dr. John Morgan. Evan Thursby worked with Dr Mark Tapsak. A scholarship fund established in the memory of former faculty member, Wayne Anderson made it possible for these students to travel.
Dr.Michael Pugh Presents Invited Talk in Boston
Dr. Pugh gave an invited talk entitled "Development of a General Education Introduction to Forensic Science Course at Bloomsburg University" in the Center for Workshops in the Chemical Sciences Forensic Science; Chemistry and Art Symposium in the Division of Chemical Education.
