STUDENT INFORMATION
The State Board of Education adopted changes that affect all of PA's instructional and educational specialist programs by adding 9 credits or 270 hours or equivalent combination for adaptations and accommodations for diverse student in an inclusive setting and 3 credits or 90 hours or equivalent combination to meet the instructional needs of English Language Learners. Therefore, additional program requirements will be developed and incorporated into your certification program to comply with new regulations for certifying teachers that become effective on January 1, 2013.

  • Admissions Application from Pre-Teacher Education (PTE) to Professional Studies program (PS) for Fall 2009, due Wednesday, July 15, 2009, to Angela Laubach, Teacher Education Admission Packets, room #3128, McCormick Building.
  • Classes Begin - Monday, August 31, 2009, , 8 a.m.
    Mandatory Student Teacher Orientation Meeting (Monday, August 31, 2009)
    (Fall 2009 prospective candidates only 1st of 3 meetings) Location: Kehr Union Ballroom, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
  • Meeting for Spring 2010 and Fall 2011 Prospective Student Teachers (KUB Multi Purpose Room A) - Friday, September 4, 2009
    • 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. - Spring 2010 prospective student teacher candidates
    • 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. - Fall 2011 prospective student teacher candidates
    • 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - Open
  • Labor Day, No Classes, Monday, September 7, 2009
  • Professional Education Meeting - TBA
  • Student Teaching Application for Spring 2010 , due October 1, 2009
  • Mid Term, Tuesday, October 20, 2009
  • Student Teachers for Spring 2010, placement cards are due by Thursday, October 1, 2009. You may hand it in at the Student Teaching Placement office in McCormick, Room #3165.
  • Thanksgiving Recess Begins Monday, November 23, 2009, at 10 p.m., through Sunday, November 29, 2009
  • Classes Resume, Monday, November 30, 2009, 8:00 a.m.
  • COE Assessment Committee Meeting - TBA
  • Mandatory Student Teacher Meeting (Friday, October 23, 2009), Kehr Union Multi Purpose Room A, 9:00 a.m.
    (Fall 2009 prospective candidates only 2nd of 3 meetings)
  • Last Day of Classes - Friday, December 11, 2009
  • Final Exams - Saturday through Friday, December 12th-18th
  • Mandatory Student Teacher Meeting, Thursday, December 17, 2009
