Presents a lecture on

Case Studies in Computer Forensics

Tuesday, October 4, 3:30-5:00 pm in Bakeless 207. 

 

Special Agent Pivnichny will talk about four of the cases he has worked on involving computer intrusion, internet fraud, piracy and child pornography.  For each case he will walk the audience through the investigative steps from beginning to end.  He will give a scenario of what evidence the FBI had, then ask, what would you do next?  Information about employment with the FBI will be available. 

Special Agent Pivnichny is a graduate of Bloomsburg University with a B.S. in computer science.  Prior to service with the FBI, he was a Police Officer in Fairfax, Virginia and served in the United States Army as a Signals Intelligence Analyst, including a tour at the National Security Agency (NSA), Fort Meade, Maryland. He entered duty with the FBI in February 2002 and was assigned to the Pittsburgh Division, working on Computer Intrusions, Violations of Intellectual Property Rights, Internet Fraud, and Child Pornography as a member of the Cyber Squad. In January 2005, Special Agent Pivnichny was selected as a member of the Computer Analysis and Response Team (CART) and became certified as a Computer Forensic Examiner.
