Welcome to the Department of Communication Studies and Theatre Arts at Bloomsburg University. Our department consists of two divisions: the Communication Studies division, and the Theatre Division.

The Communication Studies Division has over 220 students who are currently majoring in Communication Studies. We also offer a minor in Communication Studies. The Communication Studies Division currently has eight faculty members. Beginning in Fall 2007, the division will have 13 faculty members.

The communication studies division of the department supports general education for the entire university with courses in public speaking, interpersonal communication, and intercultural communication.

The Theatre Division has over 30 students who are majoring in Theatre Arts. There are four full-time faculty members who teach in this area.

The mission of Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Theatre Arts Division, Department of Communication Studies and Theatre Arts, is to provide a strong undergraduate education in the theory and practice of theatre, to support the University’s general education curriculum, and to enhance the cultural life of the campus community.  The division’s goal is to develop students' working knowledge of historical and contemporary theories and practices in dramatic literature, design, performance, and technology.  We strive to produce art and artists which spark the imagination, challenge complacency, and celebrate humanity.
