2009-2010 Lecture Schedule
The lecture series this fall begins during September and will occur on a regular basis throughout the academic year. Throughout the Fall semester the lectures will occur in Bakeless Center for the Humanities, Room 302 and will begin at 5:00 p.m. All are cordially invited to attend and please announce the topics, particularly to your classes.
September 30, 2009 (BCH 302 @ 5:00 p.m.)
Dr. Cristina Mathews will give a lecture titled "'A Nest from the Bones of the Dead': Using Memoir to Argue about Mourning and Melancholia". Dr. Matthews' scholarly interests include Secondary Education and Latino Literature. Her doctoral degree is in Comparative Literature from the State University of New York, Stony Brook.
October 21, 2009 (BCH 302 @ 5:00 p.m.)
John Barrett will read from his young adult novel titled Eterniday, which is currently in progress. He is an author and works in the Developmental Instruction office.
November 19, 2009 (BCH 302 @ 5:00 p.m.)
Dr. Mark Decker will give a lecture titled "Temperance Sermons and Middle Class Identity." He teaches both literature and professional writing courses. His doctoral degree is in American Literature from Penn State University.
