Majors: Information About Internships

Ø      In the competitive field of Environmental Planning or Science, it is an advantage to have prior experience via internship

Ø      Most agencies/organizations require cover letter and resume.  Have your final drafts checked by your advisor before sending.

Ø      Many planning organizations request GIS experience.  If possible take the course before an internship that applies.

Ø      Suggestions by former internship students: an open mind, good attitude, ability to adapt quickly to new situations (example: training), social/communication skills are very helpful.  Also, do not be afraid to try new things and leave your mark on the area!
