The Department of History at Bloomsburg University has two very active student organizations. Our local chapter of the national history honor society, (Phi Alpha Theta) and our History Club meet together regularly and sponsor a wide variety of events. A list of upcoming meetings/events, as well as a list of officers for each group, can be found below.

"Of course it's hard, it's supposed to be
hard. If it wasn't
hard everyone would do it...The 'hard' is what makes it great."
--Tom Hanks in A League of Their Own

History majors
present at conference
Four history majors, Laura Bieryla, Lisa Braun, Andrea
O'Neill, and Joseph Yasinkas, presented papers in early January at the
national Phi Alpha Theta (international history honor society) annual
meeting in Philadelphia. The papers are based on research these students
conducted while enrolled in upper level history classes. The annual Phi
Alpha Theta meeting was held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the
American Historical Association.
Day-trip to Gettysburg:
History students got together and
went to Gettysburg on
Saturday, November 5, 2005. There was a Battlefield tour and a Ghosts of
Gettysburg tour and, of course, showing of
Gettysburg and
Glory during the ride down and back. A great time was had by all.

Faculty/Staff - Student Softball Game,
In memoriam: September 24, 2005.
The students were demoralized once again by the faculty, losing 29-7. This
less than stellar performance by the students was compounded by the fact that
the faculty had "mercenary" softball players from other departments - even if
they did allow us six outfielders. The loss was worth it, if only to have
some great pictures of the faculty and staff in all their glory.
