Bloomsburg Univeristy Honors Program

Perks

Honors Living-Learning Community

"Honors students are invited to share rooms and hallways with their honors peers, creating an exceptional, close-knit community.  Because honors student share many of the same classes and passions to succeed, the set-up is ideal."

Living in the Honors Living-Learning Community has many benefits.  Luzerne Halls' central location on campus makes getting to class, meetings, and activities easy.  Often times, your honors classes are conveniently held in the Honors Center, located in Luzerne's basement! Bloomsburg University recently remodeled Luzerne, and each floor houses a room for professors to hold study sessions. Another benefit for living in Luzerne is the opportunity to move in early.  This takes some of the stress off the move-in process.  While the rest of campus is struggling to find a bin in which to load their belongings, the members of the Honors Program are at Knoebels Amusement Park, enjoying a relaxing day of fun and games.  In addition, Luzerne is a twenty-four hour quiet dorm; this does not mean that the dorm is completely silent.  It means that the noise remains at a reasonable level, which allows students to accomplish work.

Continuing Honors Scholarship

Scholarships for students continuing in the honors program are available on a competitive basis. Guidelines and applications are available in printable form. Applications and supporting materials have to be handed in at the Honors Center - no email submission will be accepted.
You must reapply every year.

Honors Conferences

The purpose of these conferences is to have the opportunity to see other students' presentation and learn from their experiences. Conferences also allow attendees to meet students and directors from other Honors Programs and find out how their programs operate and the benefits of their programs.

Bloomsburg University sent Lynette Mong and Gina Connolly as their representative to Europe in summer 2007. They reported on their trip at the October General Meeting.
