Students from the Expatriate Literature class spent Spring Break in Paris, France. During five days, the group visited the houses, cafes, and parks. The trip highlight was the meeting with Diane Johnson, author of one of the course's novels, Le Divorce. The group also visited the Louvre and Picasso Museums, the Notre-Dame, Basilica of Sacre Coeur and St.-Germain-des-Pres, the oldest church in Paris. (bloomu.edu/today)

Honors Student Receives Scholarship
Lauren Lewis, a sophomore Spanish and ASL Interpreting Major from Wapwallopen and a graduate of Greater Nanticoke Area High School, is the first recipient of the Adam Smulovitz Memorial Fund Scholarship. She will attend a university in Valladolid, Spain this summer. In addition to taking classes in Spanish, Lauren will work on her HIS, which focuses on the methods of deaf education used in other countries. A friend of Mr. Smulovitz, she says it is a real honor to study abroad in his name on a scholarship established by the late student's parents. She plans to become fluent in Spanish and eventually work as a freelance interpreter or teach in a school for the deaf.
