What Faculty Need to Know About Blackboard

24/7 Blackboard Support

  • Blackboard Support is available to faculty and students through the Blackboard Support Center. You can call the Bb Support Center at 1-866-434-8874 or go online.

Faculty/Staff Login Information

  • Your Bb username is your campus network ID preceded by the number 10.
    • Example: John Smith's Bb username would be 10jsmith.
  • Your Bb password configuration will be the first letter of your first and last name (both CAPITALIZED) followed by your employee ID number.
    • Example: Donald Duck with employee ID 12345 would have a default Bb password of DD12345.

When Are Your Courses Available in Blackboard?

  • Courses are loaded into Blackboard as follows:
    • Fall Semester - July 15th
    • Spring Semester - December 1st
    • Summer Sessions - May 1st

When Are Students Loaded Into Blackboard?

  • Students are loaded into Blackboard the Thursday before classes begin each semester. For Summer Sessions, they are loaded the Thursday before the start of the first Summer Session.

Courses are Set to Unavailable by Default

  • In order for students to have your course show up on Blackboard, you need to change the course setting to Available. The steps to set your course to Available are listed below:
                1. Select the course
                2. Click Control Panel
                3. Click Settings in the Course Options box
                4. Click Course Availability
                5. Select Yes
                6. Click Submit

    Please Note: The course is ALWAYS available to the instructor, but if it says unavailable in parentheses by the course name in Blackboard, then it is not available to the student.
