Dear Prospective Applicant for Undergraduate Admission:

Thank you for your inquiry on Bloomsburg University. You are seeking information about a university that has an international reputation for the excellent programs and services it offers to international students. At present, students from over 70 countries attend Bloomsburg University.

I am pleased to enclose materials relevant to international undergraduate admission. The general information and admission procedure sections of the application form are especially important because they provide details on application deadline dates, fees, submission of transcripts, TOEFL scores, and verification of finances.

Please complete the application form and submit it along with the required documents to Office of Admissions.
If the Admission Office accepts your applicant into a program, International Education Office will issue the appropriate immigration documents.

Application Instructions

Any Person who is not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States should submit an international student application.

Requirements:

1. Download Undergraduate Application which allows you to apply as an international student. After the form has been completed and submitted, you will need to submit the application fee. Please send a international money order for $30.00, made payable to Bloomsburg University, with the applicant's name and social security number (if applicable). Applications will not be processed until fee is received. The check should be mailed to:

2. Candidates for admission should submit the completed application to the Admissions Office six (6) months prior to the semester in which the student wishes to enroll at Bloomsburg University. Applications for the Fall semester, which begins in late August, should be completed and on file at the Admissions Office by March 1 and prior to September 1 for the Spring semester which begins in January.

3. A notarized copy of official secondary/high school transcript must be submitted. English translations must be provided and notarized to verify authenticity.

4. International students seeking admission must submit a certified bank statement verifying the student's ability to meet all the expenses of studying and living in the United States. Students unable to finance their education and living expenses in the United States will not be admitted. These students are not eligible for grants and loans provided by the United States government. A limited number of tuiton fee waivers are available on a financial need basis. Information about the tuition fee waivers may be obtained from the Bloomsburg University International Education Office.

5. Results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) must be submitted by all applicants whose native language is not English. The results of the TOEFL must be 500 or higher for the paper-based exam and 173 for the computer-based exam to be considered for admission. Results of the TOEFL test must be sent to the Bloomsburg University Admissions Office directly from the Educational Testing Services, Princeton, NJ. Photocopies are not acceptable.

Attention to all students:

To the contrary to the information provided in TOEFL website and the brochure, Bloomsburg University does not serve as a TOEFL test center location. Students who want to take TOEFL test in Pennsylvania should find another location other than Bloomsburg University.

6. Transfer students must submit a notarized English translation of their official secondary or high school transcript. Transfer applicants are required to have their official college/university transcript evaluated by an outside evaluation service. It is the student's responsibility to pay for the service provided by the evaluation agency. Applications will not be considered without these credentials.

7 . Certificates of eligibility for a student visa (I-20 or IAP-66) will be issued upon receipt of payment of the advanced deposits. The certificate of eligibility is issued by the Bloomsburg University Director of International Education.

8. Bloomsburg University requires all students to have appropriate accident and health insurance coverage. The annual cost is approximately $500.00.
