The first French Cultural Event held at Bloomsburg University on May 15 welcomed High school students of French from three area High schools. The day began with a campus tour followed by a viewing of the film Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis (a.k.a. Welcome to the Sticks), a 2008 French box office hit comedy about a Southern French postal director who is relocated to Northern France where he must come to terms with his stereotypes about the people and culture of the area. After a catered lunch, the High School students broke into groups led by Professors Nathalie Cornelius and Yahya Laayouni to work on language and cultural topics related to the film and to practice their French in a university setting.
