General Education Requirements

A complete description of the General Education requirements can be found on the Bloomsburg University site.  You will also find a list of courses that fill each requirement.

Many of our majors want to take as many psychology courses as they can.  While the minimum required for the major is 36 credit hours, our majors often take 42-45 hours in our department.

As a Psychology Major, you can count ANY or ALL of these courses for your general education.

Quantitative-Analytical Reasoning

48.160 Basic Statistics*

Values, Ethics, and Responsible Decision Making*

48.131 Psychology of Adjustment or 48.254 Psychological Aspects of Social Issues

Cultural Diversity

48.350 Psychology of Sex and Gender*

Group B Distribution

Any other psychology course (total of 3 credits) for 3 of the 12 required**

*Basic Statistics and Psychology of Sex and Gender can both count towards General Education and the requirements for the major.

**Note that the University policy states, "No more than six credits from a given academic major may count toward this distribution requirement."  The Psychology Department has determined that only 3 credits of Psychology coursework may count for the Group B distribution.
