Graduation Requirements

As a university student you should be assertive and proactive in directing your coursework.  Obviously, meeting the graduation requirements is a primary goal!  Here are some bits of advice from faculty advisors:

Study the graduation requirements for all Bloomsburg University students.  (This can be found under Academics, Policy #3604, Graduation Requirements).

Meet with your faculty advisor at least once a year.

You must meet the requirements for your major -- in this case a Psychology Major.

You must meet the general education requirements.

You must have a minimum of 120* hours to graduate. (Be careful in calculating this figure! Even though a course may fill a general education and major requirement, course credits are never doubled in calculating the 120 hours.)

You must have a cumulative quality point average of 2.0 overall and in the courses required for your major.

You must submit an application for graduation.  For May graduates, the forms are due to the department by February 1; for August graduates who are "walking" in May, forms are due by March 1; and for December graduates, the forms are due in the department by October 1. The forms are sent out by the registrar's office early in the semester.  If you do not receive a form you should check with the Department Chairperson.

*The change from 128 to120 credits to graduate is effective May 1, 2003.  Spring 2003 graduates, therefore, must have 120 hours to graduate.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding graduation requirements you should consult your faculty advisor or the Department Chairperson.
