In the Psychology Department we have two organizations whose activities are designed specifically for students planning careers in psychology:
The student psychology club, called the Psychology Association, is open to any psychology major or minor. This group is student-run, with officers elected each year. The group usually meets every two weeks to discuss issues pertinent to students and to socialize.
The mission of the group is to promote students’ interest in the field of psychology and to support students’ academic, professional, and personal development
Objectives
Academic:
To provide a forum for advisement about the Psychology major and minor
To support students’ attendance at local and/or regional conferences
To promote students’ awareness of academic opportunities across campus
Professional:
To discuss graduate school criteria, programs, exams, applications, & interviews
To inform students of the broad range of careers within psychology
To encourage community outreach in the department, university, & community
Personal:
To serve as a liaison between faculty and students on issues relevant to the success and well-being of Psychology majors and minors.
To provide an opportunity for social interactions among majors, minors & faculty
