BU Army ROTC develops cadets physically in order to prepare them for life in the Army as Commissioned Officers and to promote personal health and physical fitness. Cadets conduct formal Physical Training (PT) three times per week and execute the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) twice per semester. The APFT consists of 2 minutes of push-ups, 2 minutes of sit-ups, and a 2-mile run. The standard for passing depends on age and gender. A male 17-21 years old must do 42 push-ups, 53 sit-ups, and run 2 miles in 15:54. A female 17-21 years old must do 19 push-ups, 53 sit-ups, and run 2 miles in 18:54. Click here for APFT point values.
