Sam Bidleman | Writing and English |
| Sam is in his 31st year of teaching English, composition, graphics and journalism at Bloomsburg High School. He serves on the staff of the PA Governor’s Institute for Information Literacy, writes and edits for several scholastic publications and chairs Middle States validation visits, reviews for the Praxis Series Pre-Professional Skills Test, and presents state and national workshops geared toward improving the use of technology to enhance classroom instruction. He advised his high school’s newspaper, literary magazine, web site, and National Honor Society. He has served as vice president and president of the PA School Press Association, has been honored as a state finalist in the PA Teacher of the Year and as PA School Press Association’s Journalism Teacher of the Year. He has been happily married for 30 years. |

Kate Travelpiece | Math and Business |
Kate graduated from Elizabethtown College in 2004 with a S.S. in Mathematics and received her M.Ed. In Curriculum and Instruction from BU in 2006. She is a PSSA Tutor at Berwick Senior High School during the school year. She is currently the Academic Tutor for the Upward Bound program with Bloomsburg/Central High School Students. She teaches PSSA Math for Upward Bound in the summer |

Andrew Paluch | Biology |
Andrew is originally from Philadelphia. He did his undergraduate work at the University of South Florida in Tampa. He earned a B.S. in Biology in 2005. Some of his hobbies are cooking, reading and he enjoys Baroque music. He is enrolled in the M.S. program in Biology at BU. He would like to pursue a PhD. In Cancer Biology or something related.

Robert Reed | Mathematics |

Robert is a Bloomsburg Alumnus, with a master’s degree from East Stroudsburg. He retired in 2003 from Shamokin Area High School after 35 ½ years. While at Shamokin, he was academic advisor for the BU Upward Bound students at Shamokin. He has worked as an adjunct at Alvernia, Luzerne, Park College, and Mount Aloysius colleges. |

Shelly Mato | Writing and Reading
|
Shelly holds degrees from Franklin and Marshall Colleges, Carnegie-Mellon University and St. Michael’s College in Vermont. She has taught English/Language Arts at the secondary level of 17 years, and currently teaches composition at Thomas Jefferson University's satellite program on the campus of Geisinger Medical Center. Her real love is teaching writing. Shelly lives in riverside with her husband and three children and is very happy to be part of the TRiO staff. |

Erick Hinson |
Chemistry, Physics, Physiology |
| Erick is a recent Biomedical graduate of Vanderbilt University. He has experience in laboratory research and field engineering settings. Erick’s academic interests are in chemistry, physics and physiology. He recently taught English and Western Culture to children in Istanbul, Turkey. |

Barbara Benner | Business Tutor

Barbara holds an MS from College Misericordia in Organizational Management and a BA from East Stroudsburg University in Sociology. She is a certified level III Master Tutor through College Reading and Learning Association. She is an academic advisor/administrator for Luzerne County Community College and a Career Counselor at Benton Area High School. |

Gina Visser Smit | Biology |
After earning a BS in biochemistry at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI, Gina completed a doctorate in molecular and cellular biology at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. During both graduate school and her subsequent postdoctoral research work at the University of Iowa, Gina taught undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses. Most recently she has worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Weis Center for Research in Danville, PA. She and her husband are looking forward to the birth of their first child this year.
